Hello everyone! Today we will be reviewing a game called Drekirökr - Dusk of the Dragon by Orochii Zouveleki.
The world of Midgard, a mirror image from what is, was, or could had been ours. Valleys, mountains, rivers, seas. Nature manifests itself with power. But it's that power what humans fear the most. Daily, animal life, now called lilim, besiege human settlements. So, united under a sole ensign, most of the human nations have formed an alliance for the common good. That alliance is known as the Academy of Aleko, in charge of the administration and formation of the International Armed Force.
The game status is in development but playable, for window users only. This game is on gamejolt.
What are we waiting for? Let's get started!
Graphics:
I have to say, when I first saw this game, I thought it was made by a professional company.
The artwork is amazing and compares equally to Earthbound or Pokémon. A lot of time and
effort went in to the graphics.
Sound:
I was impressed by the sound effects, they fit that pixel game style and go very well
with the game indeed.
Music:
Again, I had no problem with the music and it sounded really nice, it is also available to
download at the gamejolt game page if you enjoy it.
Controls:
The default controls are simple to use and do not require much effort to learn off. If
you have difficulty using the default controls, you can customize your own and even use a
gamepad.
Gameplay:
The combat system is great, like a proper RPG game, the free roam is also great, a little
too great. I'm not sure if it's a glitch, but think I pressed a random key on my laptop
and now I am suddenly able to walk on anything and everything. Keep in mind though that
this game is still a work in progress and I'm sure the bugs will be fixed soon. Anyway,
back to the gameplay. There is also a shop, where you can buy items and other upgrades,
you can rent a room and there is a huge amount of dialogue with this game. The story line
is very hard to understand as you are first on a boat and then suddenly you are in this
hellish-like cave. I feel the game doesn't tell the story very well, but then again,
the game is natively Spanish that the story may not have translate well into English and
some grammar errors still exists in the game. Other then that, this is very well put together.
Difficulty:
The game isn't too hard and fairly easy to get the hang of. Just remember though that the
enemies won't stay easy for too long though.
Settings:
There is a wide range of settings to customize the game to your liking. Examples include
customizable controls, a choice between Spanish and English, battle speed, ect.
Tutorial/How to play:
Learning the basics is quite simple, walking around, combat, talking to others, ect, so
there is nothing wrong with the tutorial as the game explains itself quite well.
What I liked:
I liked the awesome artwork and gameplay, it was really professional and if you said
someone like Nintendo made it, I would believe you.
I didn't like:
So let's go over the things I didn't like:
*The ability to walk on anything
*Hard to follow storyline
Rating: 4.8/5
This game is still a work in progress, but you should check it out anyway. It is totally
worth it!
Try it out!

Thanks for the review! I'm going to address the things you've mentioned. The passing over anything is actually a small mistake. I left the debug stuff on, like pressing the End key to traverse through any obstacle.
ReplyDeleteAs for the story, it all starts with the main character as a kid. Then happens the ship incident, and then the cave stuff is 11 years later, when the character is finishing her training. I need to put some notification that says "11 years later" or something like that.
Again, thanks a lot for the review! And I'm glad that you liked it.
Hi Orochii.
ReplyDeleteI understand about the debug as you are still developing this game. I kind of understood the story, but it just could of been told better. Not to big of a deal as the gameplay and artwork makes up for it.
Anyway it was a pleasure to review.
Thanks.
